Description:
M92 is an excellent globular cluster of 300,000 stars, often overlooked due to its proximity to the Great Hercules Cluster (M13).   It can easily be seen as a fuzzy patch in binoculars.   Telescopically it is fainter and smaller than M13 with a bright unresolved core surrounded by a faint halo with some stars resolved around the periphery.   M92 is one of the oldest globular clusters known, estimated to be more than 14 billion years old.   In 14,000 years, this cluster will pass within 1° of the north celestial pole, due to the precession of the Earth.
