An open cluster of 200 stars which may be glimpsed with the unaided eye in dark skies.   In binoculars, it appears as a patch of diffuse light set against the fainter star rich field of the Milky Way.   Careful observation reveals a myriad of star patterns including "chains" formed by the cluster's brighter blue stars.
