Description:
M108 is a nearly edge-on spiral galaxy located under the bowl of the Big Dipper.   This spiral does not have a pronounced central bulge.   It lies less than one degree from the Owl Nebula (M97) and the star Merak.   A small telescope reveals a very busy and elongated mottled core with dark and light streaks.
